Press Release ‘New Year brings New Funds’

Learning for Life directors, managers and staff have been delighted at some extra special fundraising events to raise money for their mini‐bus and learner enrichment appeals.  Alongside a very generous donation of over £2,000 from The Grey Horse in Consett last October, they have also received a substantial cheque for £300 from a local bikers’ club.  The bikers have also started the New Year off with cause to celebrate as they handed over a second cheque for £340 on New Year’s Day at a special event at Blackhall Mill Club.

A big thank you must also go to Zurich for donating a most generous £2,000 to the mini‐bus appeal.
This great donation has meant this appeal is now over £17k – so the College are over halfway to getting the total amount needed!

As if that wasn’t enough to start 2018 off with a bang, Chris Hume has undertaken to embark a 1000‐mile challenge to be completed over 12‐months.  Chris, who has been teaching archery to Learning for Life learners, has decided that the sponsor monies he receives will be divided equally between Learning for Life and Tantobie. Association for Sport and the Community.  Chris starts his challenge on 17th January and he hopes to receive as much sponsorship as possible.  Good luck Chris!  We look forward to hearing all about it.

The Principal of Learning for Life, Ms Marie Matthewson has been overwhelmed at the support, determination and generosity of all the fundraisers.  Ms Matthewson, said, “Learning for Life is so very grateful for all of the effort that has gone into raising this money, which will contribute towards our learner activities and mini‐bus appeal.  It’s totally heart-warming that so many people have worked so tirelessly to raise so many funds.
What a wonderful way to start the New Year!”
