We welcome any learners into Learning for Life.

Christmas Message 2024

As we gather to celebrate this festive season, I would like to extend
heartfelt thanks to everyone who makes Learning for Life the extraordinary
provision it is. This year has been another testament to the power of
collaboration, dedication, and shared vision.

To our parents, carers, local businesses, funders, and local councillors –
your steadfast support continues to inspire and empower us. Your
commitment enables us to provide meaningful opportunities for our
learners, making a positive impact that resonates far beyond our
organisation.

To our incredible staff members – thank you for your tireless efforts and
unwavering passion. Your ability to embrace the unique ethos of Learning
for Life creates an environment where both education and care flourish.
The progress and achievements of our learners this year are a direct
reflection of your hard work and dedication.

To our learners, who are at the heart of everything we do – you are our
inspiration. Every step you take reminds us of the importance of unlocking
potential and nurturing a brighter future for all. Together, we continue to
strive for excellence, fostering growth that uplifts not only individuals but
also their families and the local and wider community.

As we reflect on the past year, we also acknowledge the transitions within
our team. To those who have moved on to new opportunities, thank you for
your contributions and best wishes for your future endeavours. To our new
trustees and staff members, welcome! We look forward to the energy,
ideas, and experience you bring as we continue to enrich our work.
This festive season, let us celebrate not just our achievements, but also the
bonds that unite us as a community. May your holidays be filled with joy,
peace, and warmth, and may 2025 bring renewed hope and inspiration.
Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

Warm regards,

Marie Matthewson

Learning for Life

Welcome to Learning for Life

Learning for Life is a registered charity and Northeast provider of education and social care services for children and adults aged 16 plus who have a diverse range of complex needs and disabilities.

We operate from two sites, one in Consett, County Durham and one in Newcastle Upon Tyne – John Marley Centre. The sites facilitate much needed education and social care placements for those who need a personalised, bespoke package, tailored to meet individual’s needs.

We are a passionate and ambitious charity who strive to support all learners and their families to break down the barriers to learning and prepare all attending for adulthood. Our dedicated team provide each learner opportunities to complete bespoke learning programmes which increase independence, improve communication, and allow the fulfilment of personal aspirations.

We pride ourselves on promoting equality, diversity and inclusion for all, by supporting each learner to celebrate their own unique identity, beliefs and abilities. We empower all learners regardless of disability to understand they have a voice and to make their own choices.  The learners have the opportunity to engage in employability, independent living, community activities, health and wellbeing, horticulture, music, Makaton, cookery and pottery.

Additionally, education provide ASDAN accredited courses and focus on the Preparing for Adulthood Agenda. Our learners are the heart of our organisation, our overall purpose is to ensure all learners feel valued and empowered.
