Oh my goodness, have you seen the planning proposal for ‘Haystax’ – the Inclusive Farm Experience Centre and Lodges at Woodlands Park Farm, Knitsley, Consett? The proposals puts the person with the disability first but takes the whole families needs into consideration, ensuring families can enjoy this amazing location. Haystax have also ensured the views would not be spoilt and careful consideration has been given to the best possible design to allow all visitors to enjoy this beautiful, peaceful location!
The proposal includes a farm experience centre with some animals therapy opportunities, holiday lodges, a café, a sensory room, some quiet rooms, arts and crafts facilities, a classroom for educational information sessions, an indoor play gym and ball pool, some pedal tractor fun, woodland watch/walks, insect hotels, bee hives and so many more exciting ideas to be added in the future.
PLEASE have a look at the plans on the Durham council planning applications website and support this proposal by sending a letter to Learning for Life and we will submit them on your behalf (please include your name and address).
Learning for Life have met with Lorna and Ian who hope to develop the project on their farm and we hope to work very closely with them to provide work experience opportunities for people attending our provision. Additionally, Haystax would like to consult with staff, parents and carers to form a ‘steering group’ to help design the facilities ensuring every little thing has been considered!
