Several years ago our local councillor Alex Watson introduced us to Lorna and Ian Adamson, founders of Haystax (the inclusive farm experience for people with disabilities and their families www.haystax.co.uk.
The Haystax partnership has gone from strength to strength. We have helped plant over 3,500 trees, have a Learning for Life plantation, have developed a wildflower meadow, made bird boxes, bat boxes and insect huts.
The learners have gained so much from this wonderful experience (staff have too of course). We are now desperately trying to set up an employability hub at Haystax. We have secured funding from The National Lottery Community Fund to provide furniture and a ‘work experience hub’ which will be sited at Haystax soon. This will allow our learners to continue their hard work and have a warm, dry, safe place to take breaks during their work placement. What an absolutely wonderful opportunity to develop our learners employability skills! A huge THANK YOU to all concerned.

HOWEVER – whilst we have funding for furniture and a ‘posh shed’, it’s not insulated, needs electricity and we need to fence the area at Haystax where the Learning for Life work experience hub will be located (for safeguarding reasons).
