Gill Stringer

Gill Stringer worked at Villa Real School, in Consett, for 21-years, during which time she was the Head teacher for the last three-years. Having identified that her pupils were leaving school with limited possibilities to progress.

Gill states:

Learning for Life came into being as a result of our young people having very few opportunities on leaving school and there being nowhere in the locality where they could continue their education.

I am a firm believer in ‘lifelong education for all’ and especially with regard to young people with severe and complex needs. They should be entitled to as varied a range of opportunities as their peers. I am extremely proud of how the College is developing and of the commitment and very positive and proactive attitude of all the staff.
