What a fantastic day we had on Friday, in Lanchester.
We went to the Methodist Church to see some of over 4,000 ceramic poppies, made and painted by people from Lanchester, to commemorate the end of World War One. It was amazing! There was a cascade of poppies from the church roof right across the front of the church, and a beautiful cross made out of poppies.
We went inside and looked at a display of material from the DLI Museum, a nurse’s uniform and details of some of the soldiers on the War Memorials. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. It’s well worth a visit!
Then it was off to The Kings Head for a drink, where again we were made very welcome.
